My Path of Happiness

Sometimes I wake up with a smile upon my face,
Knowing that the day is beginning at a good pace.
I hit some hurdles along the way
On my path throughout the day.
Some are high and some are low
And as I hit them my happiness slows.
There are some that hurt, and those bogg me down,
To many my smile becomes a frown.
My happiness fades and soon gets lost,
I seek to find it at all cost.
Sometimes it's in a simple place,
Like on another smiling face.
Other times it seems it can't be found,
Then I keep my head faced toward the ground.
For I am afraid that if I look up,
Saddness will overcome me and I will give up.
